No Weapon - Radio Broadcast for December 4, 2012

A lawyer who defends himself has a fool for a client! It can also be said that if you want to defend yourself, God will let you. God promised His people: "But if you indeed obey His voice and do all that I speak, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries.” Exodus 23:22 (NKJV) With that assurance we can know that God has us; He will go before us and be our rear guard if we will walk with Him.

In Isaiah 54:17 we read:No weapon formed against you shall prosper,And every tongue which rises against you in judgmentYou shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD,And their righteousness is from Me,”Says the LORD. (NKJV)

God was assuring His own that He would bring them out of captivity. They were facing the bondage of Babylon but God was showing them the face of freedom. The weapons formed to punish them would be turned back and would not prosper. The charges brought against them would be condemned. They would see the Lord deliver them from Babylon.

Was this because they were righteous and ready? No it is because their righteousness is from God. Our obedience brings God’s blessing but our righteousness is never of ourselves it is always of God. That is why we have no real defense because in ourselves there is no righteousness: but when God is our defense; His righteousness stands in the face of any charge that may be made. The Lord is my defense.
