When We Have the Spirit - Radio Broadcast for October 22, 2012 I woke up in Montana during a snowstorm on an icy freeway. I asked my son to slow down, exit the freeway and stop so I could take over. He didn't slow down until we got to the bottom of the icy off ramp. But, the Lord was with us and we stopped OK. My son didn't understand an icy road and my instructions fell on deaf ears.
In John 7:37-39 we read: “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; NKJV
Those listening to Jesus really didn't understand what He was saying because He was speaking of the spiritual to a people who only understood the physical world. The Holy Spirit is given to those who believe, this the Living water that flows from the life of the believer. When you come to faith the Living Water begins to flow.
There is great misunderstanding by those who do not have the Spirit but who simply walk after the flesh. The carnal mind is against God, is only thinking of what pleases self, and is dead. The Spirit filled, who walk in the Spirit, have a mind on things above. When we have the Spirit we understand the spiritual. Our spiritual thirst is satisfied when we come to Jesus.
