Why Don't They Arrest Him? - Radio Broadcast for October 11, 2012

Years ago I was traveling and staying at hotel by the freeway. I heard sirens outside and went to investigate and saw a guy running from a car to the building I was in. It seemed good to help the police so I followed him and kept pointing him out. That went on for a couple of minutes until he drew a big knife and with a look told me to leave him alone. All the while, I had no doubt that this was a bad guy because the police were chasing him.

In John 7:25-26 Jesus said: Now some of them from Jerusalem said, “Is this not He whom they seek to kill? But look! He speaks boldly, and they say nothing to Him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is truly the Christ? NJKV

Jesus was a marked man, the religious leaders wanted Him arrested and they wanted to kill Him for healing on the Sabbath and for threatening the peace. But, there He was, teaching in the temple and the people were wondering why Jesus was still free. They speculated that maybe the rulers knew that Jesus was the Christ.

The feelings of the people were mixed. Some were for Jesus others were against, but many expected the religious leaders to act on their threat. But, Jesus spoke boldly, and He still does. He boldly says: Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Stop working to save yourself and make a decision for Christ, that Jesus is Lord and that you want Him to give you rest. Come to Jesus.
