"Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need" Hebrews 4:16 (KJV)
The sole reason we can come boldly before the throne is laid out in verse 15 of Hebrews. Our high Priest 'Jesus' was tempted in all points like us yet he was found without sin. Jesus in his humanity was able to live the perfect life, the life God had intended for all of us to live. Jesus was bombarded with sin opportunity that in reality was far greater than any thing we would ever contend with. Jesus though tempted did not sin and thereby provided us with the possibility we too could defeat and not give in to the temptation of sin. Jesus understands our predicament and as such knows how to deliver us from the temptation. It becomes our responsibility to come before Him (Jesus) in that temptation and seek deliverance, so as to keep our testimony and our position with Christ and God the Father in tact. As we approach the throne for deliverance we will find Grace--unmerited favor with God. We cannot earn favor with God (Eph 2:8-10), if we could then there would have been no need for Jesus to die on the cross, we could simply pile up our good deeds so as to out weigh our bad and there by find favor with God. We cannot find favor with God based upon our actions (Rom 3:10,23) so no amount of good deeds will supplant our sinfulness. As we approach the throne and plead our need before the throne we will find mercy--the desire to forgive and abate what truly should have been develed out to us. God in His mercy forgives the debt we owe not based upon our actions of work but our actions of repentence and need for His intervention. God is pleased to act on our behalf when we are totally submitted to him, void of self and self generated responses and actions. We take it to the throne of God knowing He will be just and He will be swift and most importantly He will handle the situation in the absolute correct manner. God is always on time, never early and never late, we may think and we may feel God is not acting in a timely matter but God is not driven by our feelings, God knows what we can with stand and He has promised to never put more on us than what we can handle (1 Cor 10:13). We can find Strength with the Lord when we deliberately come to him, in dependence upon him, realizing He knows our plight, He understands our temptation and desires to shower mercy and forgiveness to us. Amen and Amen !!
