The most important job in the world for the preacher is to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. The heart of the preacher is to be immersed in this message so that his whole heart is taken over by this passion. Ed Sealy is such a person taking the love and salvation of God to others through the Word of God as well as by verse of lyrics in his gospel songs. Ed writes all his own lyrics to his songs giving a very personal touch to an already very personal message that he loves to proclaim. His heart is full of ideas and visions of things to come and with this driving love of God sings and preaches his way into the hearts of people wherever he goes.
Perhaps the most defining songs for Ed have been, A Piece of Jimmy’s Hair and Bible Bill, each of these are tremendously moving songs. The song, “A Piece of Jimmy's Hair”, tells the story of a man who went to prison for murder and left his little girl and boy alone with their mother, the mother dies and finally so does the little boy. The girl shows up at the prison to find her daddy, and the warden is confronted by this sweet child longing to see her father one more time. Unaware to others, this little girl snipped a piece of Jimmy's hair at the funeral and brought it with her to her daddy. The warden let her in and that piece of Jimmy's hair becomes a touch stone for a hardened father, to plead with the warden for a chance to work toward his paroll and be united again with his little girl, who came to him with the love of God upon her heart, borne up by tragedy and loss.
People every where are suffering from some tragedy, if it be a family that is broken or some personal conflict because of sin. Only the Love of God can make an effectual change in the heart of an individual that has been hardened by a life gone wrong. Christ is the only Savior given to a sinful and fallen world, that a heart may be forever changed. The message of the gospel is,” that God sent His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life”, the gospel is the “power of God unto Salvation….”
