Tis the season for new beginnings, exciting resolutions, personal goals, and hopeful re-commitments. :) To many people this is just another day, but to some people, it's a journey toward new horizons. So as we take the bridge of life over the waters of a previous year may God grant us the faith to walk in the wilderness land of 2013.
I, for one, know not what the new year may hold, but I desire to look forward with eager anticipation to all that God has in store for me, my family, and my friends. Therefore, I want to make you aware of you what I am calling my five-star resolution for a new year, and I trust that you will make this five star resolution yours as well.
The first five star resolution is this: I desire to love the Lord my God with all my heart, with all my soul, with all my mind, and with all my might in this new year.
The second five star resolution is this: I desire to love others, with a heavy emphasis on my family, with all my heart, with all my soul, with all my mind, and with all my might. The only greater love I will have will be toward my Lord.
The third five star resolution is this: I desire to have a greater attendance to the reading, meditation, and memorization of the Word of God.
The fourth five star resolution is this: I desire to have a greater faithfulness to the house of God than I did the previous year. This faithfulness is not just a physical faithfulness but to achieve a greater quality, care, and concern for all things the Lord has given me the oversight of at my place of worship.
The fifth five star resolution is this: I desire to display a greater fervor to reach the lost at any cost, whether it be by increasing my personal giving to missions or by increasing my personal going to speak with those in need of Christ.
I trust that as I have shared with you my five stars of resolution that I have simply encouraged you to a greater commitment to God in 2013. Why? Because, "Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him." 1 Corinthians 2:9
