Many readers have followed my adventure being chosen for a Who's Who, and that article is the most popular one ever in my blog. For those readers, who already know the excellence I bring to my company, it should come as no surprise that my company has been chosen to receive the The US Commerce Association "2009 Best of [Name of City] Award"!

They say: "Each year, the US Commerce Association (USCA) identifies companies that we believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and community." That's quite an accomplishment. Unfortunately, a lot of my company's sales are through distributors, not direct, so they are obviously making that up.

However, this is just a scam. They sell plaques commemorating this award, which is given to any business which buys a plaque.

I could print out an award using my printer that would mean just as much, and be significantly cheaper.

Just in case you are similarly selected...I have linked to a news article about the "US Commerce Association" which is apparently overplaying their hand by blanketing every business in the country with their ersatz awards, leading to investigation.
