Dear Friends in Christ, September 2009

"For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God. For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory" (2 Corinthians 4:15-17).

Ultimate Wisdom Much has happened since our last prayer letter, and much will change between now and our next prayer letter. We praise the Lord for His infinite mercy and wisdom, and that He has a plan and a purpose for everything. God is not in the dark about what takes place, but He is light and is able to guide and sustain us.

Unexpected Blessings As you may remember in our last prayer letter, Leah had just arrived and was working in the Bible institute teaching piano, as well as helping in the church. We are very thankful for her time here; she was a great blessing. She has now returned to Wisconsin and is settled into the new semester at Baptist College of Ministry. As the time approached for Leah to leave, the Lord worked it out that our oldest daughter, Rebekah, could join us for three months. This was quite unplanned, but all in God's perfect timing as she was able to take over where Leah left off at the institute and in the ministry at the church. This is allowing the Bible institute students to have almost six straight months of piano lessons, which is a great asset in their training. The Lord has also provided a part-time job for Rebekah to teach English at a nearby institute, which has been both challenging and rewarding for her. Please pray for Rebekah as she seeks God's direction for her life. She will return to America with us in November and further her education as the Lord leads. Jonathon is still busily working at Camp Joy through the end of the year. At that time, he will join us and travel with us during our furlough.

Uplifting Ceremony We also mentioned in our last prayer letter that we would be holding an awards ceremony at the Bible institute. The Johnsons and Dr. Dennis Walton arrived from America a couple of days before the ceremony, which allowed Dr. Johnson and Dr. Walton, along with Pastor Snyder, to be able to participate in the ceremony. The service went well and was a great encouragement to the students. They are all looking forward to eventually receiving their diploma within the next two or three years. For the past three months, we have focused on the Life of Christ during the Bible institute classes, followed by a study of the book of Acts, which should be completed by the time we leave for furlough.

Unlimited Service The church here continues to grow both numerically and spiritually. It is averaging in the mid-50s during the morning services and in the mid-40s in the afternoon services. It has been a joy to have several visitors come through the past few months, as well as to see Tera's ongoing zeal in reaching out to the community. He has taken it upon himself to hold a Bible study on Saturdays in an area where many of the church folks live. During our furlough, he is planning to conduct his own Bible institute classes with people from the church, showing the videos that have already been made. The church is still very young, so as it grows it continues to face many issues such as carnality. We ask you to please pray that the Lord will give us wisdom to know how to handle these different situations in a culture that we are still trying to understand.

Understanding Trials One of the trials that the Lord has allowed lately has been the increased illness of Mi, Tera's wife. She has struggled with health problems most of her life. Recently, however, it seems to be worse than normal. We were very concerned for her and encouraged her to go to the doctor. It turned out that she was very dehydrated and anemic, so the doctor decided to run some other blood tests. She received several IVs, along with various kinds of injections, but the hardest news was the fact that she has Hepatitis B. Blood tests were done for Mi's mom and for Tera, which showed negative results for Mi's mom, but positive for Tera. Yes, both Mi and Tera have Hepatitis B, but in this country that is not uncommon. At first, this was devastating for their family, especially since it is assumed that their children have it as well. As you can imagine, this has been a very difficult time for both of them, but it has been a good growing time for them as they realize that God can use this in their lives. Please remember them in prayer as they serve the Lord through the challenges ahead.

Unplanned Farewells Another trial that has happened over the past month is one in which our family has lost two loved ones. Ron's step dad, Dave Schams, passed away about a month ago, and then about two weeks ago, Ron's older brother, Scott Fruin, passed away as well. Ron was not able to return for either of the funerals, but we praise the Lord that some of our children were able to attend and represent our family. We would appreciate your prayers, especially for Ron's mom.

United Prayers Although, we still have almost two months before furlough, we know that the time will go by very quickly. We have many preparations to take care of before we can leave, but we know that God's grace is sufficient. As of now, the plan is to hold the last Bible institute class on November 11 and then leave Cambodia on November 13, arriving in Chicago at 5 p.m. on the 14th. Please pray for us as we travel, and please pray for Tera and Mi as they carry on the ministry at the church. We look forward to seeing many of you during our furlough travels. Thank you for your continued prayers for the work that God is doing here.

Serving the Saviour,

Ron and Tina Fruin
