I have been scammed by a scam of distinction, the prestigious sounding "Presidential Who's Who" which is only available to "those who have reached a distinguished level of success in their chosen profession". Apparently they don't know I have...

Just received my fax for the PWW. Find it interesting that my "information was reviewed and accepted for inclusion in the 2011 edition." I'd like to know who supplied the information, since it wasn't me. And secondly, if it was "reviewed and accepted," why do I need to fill out anything on the bottom of the page? They apparently already have everything they need! Sending my invitation on to the FCC to investigate this junk fax and Mr. Mark Anthony McGuiness.

I just received a fax from the distinguished PWW, Googled them and found this site. First off, thank you for posting the scam (I was sure it was to begin with). Second, I believe Mr. McGuiness and his esteemed staff should be a bit more selective to whom they review and recognize for a distinguished level of success. I am currently an unemployed student with a blog and a t-shirt website. Both of which are far from any distinguishable success. I do love blatant stupidity though. I just need to have some fun and come up with a good company name and job title to submit back to the esteemed staff. Thanks again for being here to reveal my suspicions.

If who is who is not a scam, why does the fee vary, the lady that called me told me it would cost $669 to be registered, when I indicated that I could not afford she said she will charge me $369 and throw in some ticket to somewhere, I maintained this morning that I could not afford and she offered me for $98.
Not to mention that there initial mail states that there is no fee. Explains that. The good thing is i refused the offer

My employees were delighted I received a Fax today saying I was selected to be in a Who's who. Finally I would be recognized for my leadership in these tough times. But alas it is a scam. I know because the same organization has hit me up before when I was running a small business in the northeast. I thanked my employees and went back to work

This is f**king hilarious, go onto Google maps and check out MarkAnthony McGuiness office in New York, go to street view and look at the disgusting slum of a street it is in, opposite a closed down chicken and ribs shop with graffiti all over it...

There are some really gullible idiots out there but to fall for this you have to be real dumb.

Presidential Who's Who of the slum!

I wonder what really is being done about this company, if anything. Keep up the good work...the more of these blogs reporting spam the better. Some people had similar things from at least 2006 from them.

And yeah, I can confirm what someone said below (from the two faxes I got) in that they did get rid of those extra comma's around "Presidential Who's Who each year" so maybe they are reading your blog??? :-P

I just recieved a fax from this distinguished organization. I immediately googled it and found this blog. I particularly appreciate the comment by Rob from Florida pointing out that the PWW is recognizing you for your outstanding achievements in your discipline or industry and then proceeds to ask you what your discipline or industry is in the form you are to complete!! I think the title should be "gullible who's who"...:-)

I just received this scam at my work email. Although I was flattered at first , I immediately became suspicious considering I live in a small, rural area where people are really only nominated for local awards and recognition. Glad I found this blog to confirm my suspicions. Thanks.

This slipped through the spam filter at work. I investigated it a bit.
The address given is a home in a low to middle income resendential neighborhood.
The zipcode provided (11580) is not for Westbury, NY but for Valley Stream NY, about 10 miles southwest. The address in Valley Stream is small storefront office. The IP address of the mail server is registered to an ISP in Westbury NY.
From what I can tell, this appears to be a vanity publisher. Technically not a scam, but definitely misleading, vanity publishers typically charge the authors to print their books, and leave the marketing to the author. This variant, solicits bios from people, who are required to buy a copy of the book. The result is about as impressive as a high school yearbook.

Generally, it appears rather strange that these whiners are simply looking in the mirror while questioning others' business tactics/strategies . . . get a life and make some money for yourselves . . . it'll remain whether you complain or not, time to move of guys . . . much luck in getting over such unbelievably tedious complaints!

Okay, so I just received a phone call from Joseph Dunn who is a writer from the Presidential Who's Who. The call was for my Assistant Director who is currently out on medical leave.

I took the message and didn't think much of it until I asked for his email address. My Asst. Director is out but she is still able to check her email. This guy tells me, "I don't use email, but you can send it to my secretary and she'll print off the message for me." What? You're a writer who doesn't use email? So, I decided to Google this.....found out it's a scam.
