I have been scammed by a scam of distinction, the prestigious sounding "Presidential Who's Who" which is only available to "those who have reached a distinguished level of success in their chosen profession". Apparently they don't know I have...[ abbreviated | read entire ]
Why does a scam artist like this one get away with this year after year. I went through the same scam with him via phone. My answer to the request for my credit card number was, I am in a hurry to go to work. I had to repeat this until I finally told him that I must hang-up, and that I will have to wait until the next Decade to make the president's Who's Who.
I received a fax from this company. I also received a fax solicitation from a travel company out of Florifda offering great deals, but it is a scam to get your credit card number. A whole bunch of people bombarded their call center and fax machine - it shut them down for a while. I'm not saying do it, but the same thing can be done here. The fax number I have is (866) 676-5744. The COO (McGuiness) can be reached at (516) 368-9910, according to the fax.
Just got the call about 5 minutes ago. After what seemed an endless conversation, the mmm "gentleman" who called (Joseph Dunn) said I had to choose between the Executive or Presidential Copy of their book....and that I had to give him my card number. After I refused he asked "Is this too much for you?", to which I answered of course it was since I had never heard of them. After trying to convince me to give him the number (I kept saying, let me investigate a little, I'll get back to you, and he kept saying that wasn't possible) he simply said "I wish you luck" and hung up. Guess he didn't want me finding websites like this one!!! Loserrrrr
I just got that email too and without thinking entered my information in their "online" form. There wasn't anything about credit card info, but I am a little concerned about what I can be expecting because of this. Does anyone know what will happen next?
I just got a fax from these losers, looked them up and found this blog. When it said I had reached a distinguished level of success in my profession, then at the bottom asked my specialty and type of business, I had to laugh. What rightful business would even consider contacting them. What a joke!
I am living in Madagascar. I also received the first email from Presidential Who's who in 21st december09. I was surprisengly happy to read all of those color they made in their words. then an unexisting Richard Wellington became to call me on my mob to tell me about this within an ununderstandable spokne english (I told him to speak clearly and slowly) I understand now that he deliberately talked in order to let me understand NOTHING. and the last discussion he wnated me to respond right away if I am interested to become membership. I said YES as I hope I could get in internet to learn more about this. But he asked me my credit card reference and I said NO, he said that to become member the premium fee for 5 years memebrship is 849USD, and he even offer that I can pay in 2 or 3 times if I do not have this amount right today. DIRTY SCAMMER , SHHIIIT. After net research I did yesterday this Richard Wellington has already begin this Job in January 2008 and used other program name which have the same signications. Manby people claimed on this but fortunately victims are rare
Rio Linda SP, I got the same letter exactly. It's a scam. Here's the link http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/275758/big_scam_exposed_trusted_bra?cat=3 One of best scams I've seen, though because the check is real.
Saturday I received an envelope mailed from Canada...first ohhhh... in it was a check for the amount of $1,930.50 drawn on JPMorgan Chase BAnk.N.A. New York, NY instructing me to call a Debra JOnes at 1 778 316 2215 (Again Canada area code) telling me to call her and that the check is provided to help me pay for the applicable Government Service TAx (GST). I will be delivered a certified check which will be delivered to me by their agent in the amount of $153,069.50 (my mother always told me if it was to good to be true then it probably is!)SP
