ONLY CHRIST

Looking at my sin, I see Christ as my atonement and only Christ. Looking at God’s law, I see Christ as my righteousness, my only righteousness. I’m not making up what I can’t provide; He is my only righteousness. Looking at God’s justice, He is my justification. Looking at death, He is my life. Looking at the grave, He is my resurrection. Looking at eternity, He is my hope.

Pastor Henry T. Mahan

WATER WAS MADE WINE

John 2:1-11

When the water was made wine at the marriage feast, the water was not made to look like wine, the water was not made to taste like wine, the water was not treated as though it were wine, and they didn’t put post-it notes on the water pots saying “Wine.”

The water was made wine! And when the Son of God was made sin for us, He was not made to look like sin, treated as though he were sin, or merely have sin pasted on him, He was “made to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” (2 Cor. 5:21).

Pastor Scott Richardson

IT IS I

“Be of good cheer: It is I ; be not afraid” (Mark 6:50).

It is I who formed you in the womb, and brought you forth into your present existence. It is I, the Lord your God, who has fed you, and clothed you from that hour up to the present moment. It is I, the Lord your God, who has preserved you on every side. When you were upon a sick bed, it is I, the Lord your God, who visited your soul, raised up your body, and gave you that measure of health which you do now enjoy. It is I, the Lord your God, who placed you in the situation of life which you do now occupy. It is I, the Lord your God, who deals out to you every trial, who allots you every affliction, who brings upon you every cross, who works in you everything according to My own good pleasure. When we can thus believe that the Lord our God is about our bed and our path, and spying out all our ways, when we can look up to Him, and feel that He is the Lord our God, there is no feeling more sweet, more blessed, more heavenly. “Be of good cheer: It is I; be not afraid.” J. C. Philpot

THE PERFECT PRIEST WITH THE PERFECT SACRIFICE

“Whosoever offereth a sacrifice of peace offerings unto the LORD to accomplish his vow, or a freewill offering in beeves or sheep, it shall be perfect to be accepted; there shall be no blemish therein. Blind, or broken, or maimed, or having a wen, or scurvy, or scabbed, ye shall not offer these unto the LORD, nor make an offering by fire of them upon the altar unto the LORD.” (Lev. 22:21).

In Leviticus, chapters 21 and 22 the Lord gave instructions to Moses and Aaron about the most vital and fundamental information on how to approach and worship Him. The high priest could not have any defect, deformity or blemish (Lev. 21:16-21). Likewise, the sacrifice could not have any blemish at all (Lev.22: 17-24). If the priest had no defect, yet brought a sacrifice with blemishes it would not be accepted, for it "must be perfect to be accepted" (Lev. 22:21). Likewise, if the sacrifice had no blemish, but the priest that offered it had any blemish, the sacrifice would not be accepted at all, for it "must be perfect to be accepted."

All of this declares the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the perfect and great High Priest without blemish, spot, defect, deformity or sin (Heb. 4:14-15; Heb. 7:26; 8:1). Not only is that true, but He is also the perfect sacrifice for sin. He is the Lamb without blemish or spot (John 1:29; 1Peter.1: 18-20). It is only through the Lord Jesus Christ and His glorious sacrifice, that we can be justified from all sin (Acts 13:38-39; Heb. 9:11-12; Heb. 9:26). In the Lord Jesus Christ every believer is made a priest with no blemish, no sin (Rev. 1:5-6; 5:9-10). Likewise, in Christ's precious blood atonement we can approach the throne of grace with boldness (Heb. 4:16), because we have a perfect sacrifice that fully, eternally satisfies the holy justice of God (Rom. 3:24-26; Col. 1:19-22; Jude 1:24-25). Through Christ, we meet God's standard, "It must be perfect to be accepted," all of this, "To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved" (Eph. 1:6).
