"Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches." Proverbs 24:3-4

This proverb gives us a threefold progression; it speaks of a home that is built, established, and filled. The instruction here can be applied to the family unit as a whole, or each individual life. The truth of the matter is, each one of us as an individual, will have to decide what we are going to invest in, when it comes to building our lives. While the proverb gives us the threefold progression of building, establishing, and filling; it also tells us how each progression is accomplished. It is through wisdom, understanding, and knowledge (we will look at these tomorrow). So, what does it mean to build, establish, and fill? To “build” in this passage means to build something in a permanent way. The life course you are on is either being built in a way that will endure and remain, or it will soon fall apart, and you will have to begin building again. To establish your life, means that it is becoming firm and stable. Your life doesn’t fall apart when the winds and the waves come crashing down on it, rather your life stands firm. And last of all, your life is full, rather than empty. Oh, how many people are there today lamenting the fact that life for them is just empty? The more they have the emptier it seems to get; but life doesn’t have to be that way. You can have a life that is meaningful and filled with joy. Jesus Christ came that we might live the abundant life, and tomorrow we will see how.
