“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
Proverbs 22:6

Every Godly parent has at one point felt like an utter failure and perhaps views this verse with great skepticism. The pressures associated with parenting often lead to unbiblical conclusions.

• Exhaustion – “I’m a terrible parent. Nothing I do works.”
• Completion – “I’ve instilled good habits, and now they are teenagers. My work is done.”
• Inadequacy – “I’m a hypocrite. How can I teach them anything when I’m such a sinner?”
• Lost opportunity – “I should have done more when they were younger. It’s too late now.”

But this passage implies something that must not be missed in this discussion – grace! God does not require what He will not also supply. There is grace for every need, including the long, weary road of parenting.
