Today, I read a very sad letter from George Whitefield, Letter 272, and he discussed the awful things that had happen to him and his ministry because of the differences in beliefs that John Wesley and Charles Wesley were having with him over Election. I wonder if the Wesley brothers even knew what their words were doing to their previous friend and how hurt he was when arriving back to England from his Orphan work in Georgia and preaching in the Colonies.
It made me wonder how sad Jesus was between these brothers in the Lord arguing and causing more attention on small stuff and hindering the work of propagating the Word of the Lord among the newly saved and the unsaved. It was real sad for me to read this today.
Why do Christians try to one up another Christian? If we have differences in beliefs but have the same Lord Jesus does not our 1 Corinthians 13 Love "bear all things"?
I think Leonard Ravenhill is right that in some churches the Holy Spirit has left them and they know it now. So how can "I" change things? How can "MY" prayers help with unity in the Church? This needs to be a personal problem taken God in prayers so that things can change.
