Today the team spent time with Dan and Daniela Pierce of Bethany House Ministry in Calarasi, Romania. Bethany House is a home for orphaned children that has been in existance since the 1990's. The team visited 2 orphanages in Calarasi, and a children's ward of the local hospital. We were not permitted to photograph the children because of the recent expose' of the condition of some of the worst orphanages in Romania done on US national TV. They are very leary of cameras. However, Daniela has a good relationship with the directors and she permitted photos of some of the rooms inside. Please view our attached photo album for today and see how beautiful the rooms are in one of the orphanages we visited. It was a great reunion for several of the team members who were last here 4 years ago. Calarasi is fast improving the condition of its city. Much construction of new buildings is going on, in addition to refurbishing the old ones. The roadways are greatly improved as many had potholes everywhere 4 years ago. Many of the existing buildings have been newly painted giving an overall fresh, new look. There are new supermarkets here as well. The horses and carts can still be heard as this is being written, which pass by Bethany House all day long, but there are not as many now. The economy has improved, and this area of Romania, which was the poorest in all of Romania, has reaped the benefits, as jobs are readily available here. After lunch some team members visited the Bethany House farm located just outside of Calarasi. There have been improvements to the house there and they have plenty of livestock to give milk, eggs and meat. They also raise crops to feed Bethany House. They even pasteurize their own milk! In the evening, some of the team went to a concert given by a group called, "The Jesus Revolution." This group is composed of young people who commit to a year of touring all over the world. They train for 4 months before traveling the rest of the year. They present the gospel during their performances. The YEE team were able to share the gospel with others who attended the concert. They returned at 11 PM to have dinner back at Bethany House and there was a group celebration of all the June birthdays: Anita's of Bethany House, Katie's, Carie's and Pastor Groves'. Tomorrow the team will visit Pastor Brad Hayes' Outstretched Hands ministry, also located in Calarasi. Then the YEE teams will split and go to either Constanta or back to Bucharest for their respective YEE Clinics to be held next week. Please continue to pray for everyone here. All are in good health and good spirits, ready to continue to minister in Romania.
