We have our Men's Prayer Breakfast this morning, I trust we will have a good group of men gathered for sweet fellowship around the breakfast table, and then a great time of prayer with our Lord. Thank you for your prayers for Bro. Steve Julian, his surgery went well and he is on the road to recovery. They did remove a small portion of his liver, and are sending the gallbladder for pathology.
Please pray for this weekend's weather that it isn't disruptive to the services at our church. Also, please pray for God's power to rest upon our worship.
Numbers 36:13, "These are the commandments and the judgments, which the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses unto the children of Israel in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho."
This is the last verse in the book of Numbers. I chose this because of the emphasis it places upon the commandments and judgments of our LORD. Psalm 19 speaks about the commandments and judgments of the LORD. Commandments are orders given to us by God. They are to be obeyed and carried out. Judgments are verdicts or decisions that God makes to make something clear when it otherwise might be unclear. Listen to the words of Psalm 19:7-11, "The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: thetestimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. 8The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: thecommandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. 9The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteousaltogether. 10More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also thanhoney and the honeycomb.11Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward."
The Word of God is described by the following words in these few short verses: law, testimony, statutes, commandment, and judgments. There are many other descriptive words used throughout the Bible to help us relate to the importance of the Word of God. These words are to be desired more than gold, they are to be viewed as sweeter than honey and the honeycomb. They are a source of warning, and a source of reward for those who obey these words.
What is your attitude in regards to the Word? Are you seeking God daily by reading the Bible? Are you joining in our journey of reading through these blessed Scriptures? Are you obeying the Word of God? Warning and blessing will be found as you make this journey through the Bible a part of your daily routine.
