We are planning to begin a series of discussions dealing with the issue of the Christian's relationship to government. We plan to address questions such as: What is the prerogative of government with respect to its people?
What is the prerogative of people with respect to their government?
Are Christians responsible to obey illegitimate governments? What makes a government legitimate?
How is the structure of the government of the United States of America similar to and distinct from other forms of government?
Is it possible for a government to break the Law of God? If so, what is the prerogative of the people in terms of their response to governmental lawlessness?
From what source do the rights of people derive--from God or from government? If rights derive from God, what is the prerogative or responsibility of government with respect to the people's God-given rights?
