“Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light to me.” Micah 7:8
Do Christians sometimes fall? Tragically, yes. Some falls are worse and more damaging than others, but the reality is we are still sinners and still have native rebellion against God in our fallen nature. Do Christians sometimes sit in the darkness of depression, doubt, grief, or other hard-to-describe states? Tragically, yes.
The difference for the believer is that he has hope! Namely, he has God! He has the mercy and grace and tough love of God that convicts of sin, freely forgives and picks back up to walk in righteousness again.
He has the compassion and faithfulness of God that sticks closer than a brother in seasons of darkness. Even when the believer may not know or feel that God is with him, God has promised He is there no matter what. May God be your light in darkness. May He bring His word with power and comfort to your soul. May you rejoice and praise Him even in the pain, knowing that His presence is always with you.
