Colossians 3:17 (KJV) And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
When was the last time you thanked the Lord for the opportunities He gave you to serve Him?
When it comes to servicing the Lord a lot of Christians think that if they are not doing something big they are not serving. Also, they think that if they are not in a prominent position in a church they are not really serving God. As a baseball player who was just called out because he was tagged with his foot not touching the base, this way of thinking is off base, too.
Some years ago I was out witnessing with a man from our church. We came to a house where the lady of the home invited us in. We sat in the kitchen and I began to share the Gospel with her. Just as we were getting to the point where I was going to ask her to trust the Lord company showed up.
Isn’t that the way it goes? The old serpent does not want to see people saved and will send any distraction he can to stop it. The gentleman who was with me simply got up and went to the other room with the company and visited with them until I was finished presenting the Gospel. To the glory of God the lady trusted the Lord Jesus as her Saviour. We tried to talk to the other people but they did not want to listen. So we left.
When we left the house I heard Lee say that he wished could do that and see people get saved. I looked at him and told him what he did was just like he was the one giving the Gospel. In fact I went on to say that when we stand before the Lord at the Judgment Seat of Christ to receive our rewards he will receive the same rewards just as if he had done all the witnessing. He looked at me and through astonished eyes asked me why? I went on to say that if he hadn’t taken the other people into the other room the lady probably would not have gotten saved. What Lee saw in his eyes was a small thing the Lord saw as vitally important.
God sees what man considers as nothing at all as though large, huge, and extremely important. So whatever you have done for the Lord, regardless of what it looks like, thank Him for the opportunity to serve Him.
Matthew 25:22-23 (KJV) He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them. 23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
