Pride opens the door to every manner of evil in your life. Pride keeps you from: asking for help, accepting wise counsel, choosing the right path, correcting errors, changing course; I could go on but I only have two minutes.
In James 4:7 we read: Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. (James 4:7 NKJV) The reason for this is: because God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. This is a key verse instructive in navigating the course away from evil and toward godliness. If we submit to God and resist the devil, the devil will flee from us. If we do not submit to God, but remain proud; God will resist us and the devil will not flee from us but will aid and abet our pride which only brings more trouble our way.
If we build our lives on pride, the devil is inside fueling our ambitions and desire; continually tempting us and succeeding and God is on the outside resisting us. On the other hand; if we submit to God and resist the devil, God gives us grace; forgiveness, healing, wisdom, help, hope, direction, freedom, fellowship and much more.
The natural course for sinful man is to submit to the devil and resist God. But supernatural grace is given to each one who does just the opposite; submits to God and resist the devil. If you want the devil to leave you alone- submit to God and resist the devil and the devil will flee from you.
