Administer Deliver & Do No Harm - Radio Broadcast for November 20, 2012

A wise man once said to me: “You can pull a rope easier than you can push it. You must lead from the front not push from the rear.” In Jeremiah 22:3 we read: Thus says the LORD: “Execute judgment and righteousness, and deliver the plundered out of the hand of the oppressor. Do no wrong and do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, or the widow, nor shed innocent blood in this place. (Jeremiah 22:3 NKJV)

This was both the job description for the king and the list of charges against the kings for not doing these but instead plundering, oppressing, stealing and living off the people. Not that their job was easy but it was possible to execute judgment and righteousness. And in doing so they were well provided for by God and knew God. Read Jeremiah 22:16: He judged the cause of the poor and needy; Then it was well. Was not this knowing Me?” says the Lord. (NKJV)

We have the example of a king (Josiah) who did right and was blessed for doing so in the midst of international turmoil and national calamity. We too can lead well even in the middle of great difficulty by keeping to the basics of leadership; helping those in need and doing no harm.
