Living out these six words transforms lives! To seek God’s face is to seek His favor and His presence. It is to seek to know His will and do it. It is to seek fellowship with Him. It is to seek His strength and wisdom for our lives. To seek Him also means we must walk away from seeking our own self-serving interests.
David’s word here is one of purpose and determination. Seeking God wasn’t merely a nice thought or good idea to David; he had done it and he was planning to keep on doing it. Are you doing it right now in your life? If not, what hinders you from doing it?
How can one seek God without knowing who God is, and what His will and purposes are? The answer is obvious, and the place those things are revealed are in His Word. When you read the Bible or hear a sermon or memorize a Scripture, remind yourself, “I want to seek God’s face.” The same is true with prayer and all worship, private or public. Seeking God will means we begin to lose some things, namely sinful traits. But, it also means we will gain lavish treasures, the presence and communion of God Himself.
