"But the transgressors shall be destroyed together:
the end of the wicked shall be cut off.
But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD:
He is their strength in the time of trouble."
(Psalm 37:38-38)

JESUS BORE THE WRATH OF GOD
TUNE TO "HOW SWEET THE NAME" CM
WORDS BY JIM BYRD

1. How blest are those whose sin and guilt
Are fully washed away;
They need not fear the wrath of God,
When comes the Judgment Day.

2. Offended justice dealt with Christ,
Who for the guilty died;
And by His bloody sacrifice,
Poor souls are justified.

3. The death of Christ our Substitute,
The Lord has satisfied;
He magnified the holy law,
When on the cross He died.

4. Since Jesus bore our load of guilt,
Upon the rugged tree;
The ransomed of the Lord are safe
For all eternity.

5. How can I know that Jesus died,
And suffered in my place?
‘Tis in this way, if I by faith,
The Son of God embrace.

LIVING BY FAITH
"The just shall live by faith." A Christian lives by faith, just as Esau lived by his sword. He did not live upon his sword, that would have been hard living indeed; but he lived on what his sword brought him. So the believer does not live upon his faith itself, but by it; that is, he lives upon what faith brings home to him, even the love, the righteousness, the atonement and intercession of Christ. --Augustus Toplady

IGNORANCE
When speaking of man’s knowledge and understanding, Thomas Edison said, "we do not know a millionth part of one per cent about anything." Perhaps he was right about man’s apprehension of natural things, but as far as spiritual things are concerned, we know and understand absolutely nothing. "But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned" (1 Corinthians 2:14). Asaph declared that which is true of every man, "So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before Thee" (Psalm 73:22). Through study a man may learn many things, but there can be no understanding of the gospel apart from the revelation of the Spirit. "A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven" (John 3:27). When Peter confessed Jesus of Nazareth to be "the Christ, the Son of the living God," the Savior gave this explanation for that confident declaration - "Flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven" (Matthew 16:17). O for a heart-revelation of the gospel of Christ. –Pastor Jim Byrd

THE WORD IS NOT BOUND!
I do not preach the gospel of grace believing the success of the message is dependent upon either the abilities of the speaker or the cooperation of the hearer. I set before you the Word of the Lord, the good news of the blood and righteousness of Jesus Christ, and I do so with this confidence, the gospel cannot be hindered nor shall it ever be a failure. The enemies of the gospel locked Paul away in a dungeon, but they could not imprison the Word of God. "Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel: wherein I suffer trouble as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the Word of God is not bound. Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus" (2 Timothy 2:8-10). Though Paul was confined, the gospel can never be confined. "For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: so shall My Word be that goeth forth out of My mouth: it shall not return unto Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it" (Isaiah 55:10-11). As the rain and snow come from above and produce the ordained effect of watering and refreshing the earth so that sufficient food is produced for man and beast, so the Word of God goes forth and accomplishes the purpose of the Lord. God’s Word may be considered to be Christ, the Incarnate Word, or the Scriptures, the written Word; either way, the Word is always successful to do the work God determined. When the Son of God came into this world, He finished the work of redemption which the Father sent Him to do. Moreover, when the Word of the Gospel goes forth, it always accomplishes the purpose for which it is sent, a savor of life unto life for some and death unto death for others (read 2 Corinthians 2:14-16). –Pastor Jim Byrd
