“Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, The secret which the king hath demanded cannot the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers, shew unto the king; But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days.” Daniel 2:27, 28
When God gave Daniel the dream and interpretation to give to Nebuchadnezzar, Daniel used it as an opportunity to point the king to the true God. Daniel made it very clear where the revelation came from: not magicians or soothsayers, but the one, true living God. Later in life, when Daniel stood before King Belshazzar, he also boldly spoke to him about the true God.
When God gives us opportunities in life, let us follow the example of Daniel and make a point of declaring Christ our Savior. When someone asks you about being spared in a car wreck, or why your marriage is happy, or when a neighbor is grief-stricken over a lost loved one, tactfully seek God’s help in vocally speaking of God’s mercy and grace to them.
Daniel lived in the middle of a spiritually crooked, dark society as do we. May we like him, glorify God through deed and word in this generation.
