My first encounter with a brilliant fool was in High School in a government class. The teacher felt it his responsibility to squeeze faith out of every student and to convert all to his liberal socialist ways. He was brilliant and could hold his own with almost everyone. So many students were ready to hear and follow his teachings and to discard faith and family values. Since there is no God, they reasoned, then you can do whatever you want.
In Isaiah 47:10 we read: “You felt secure in your wickedness. ‘No one sees me,’ you said. But your ‘wisdom’ and ‘knowledge’ have led you astray, and you said, ‘I am the only one, and there is no other.’ NLT
That phrase "I am the only one, and there is no other" is the rallying cry that justifies any behavior, any deceit, any selfish act. It reminds me of Romans 1:22: Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools. NLT
It seems that brilliant fools have multiplied as our media, government and schools are full of them. The agenda, of squeezing faith and godly values out of young minds has never been stronger. But, don't be deceived by the wisdom of this age. God is and He sees you and you are not alone but you are known by God. God loves you and has established a right way to live and love. God has redeemed you from the foolishness of this corrupt world by sending His Son to die for sin. As Jeremiah wrote in Lamentations 3:40-41; Let us search out and examine our ways, And turn back to the LORD; Let us lift our hearts and hands To God in heaven. NKJV
