In Jr. Hi. I was recruited for the football team. At the first practice I saw the schedule: many hours of after school & Saturday practice. I would miss my afternoon paper route, youth choir at church and youth group. I loved football but not that much.
In John 7:40-41 we read: Therefore many from the crowd, when they heard this saying, said, “Truly this is the Prophet.” Others said, “This is the Christ.” But some said, “Will the Christ come out of Galilee? (NKJV)
We see the division in the crowd. Many called Him a prophet; Others called Him Messiah and Some rejected Him outright. Today, there are Many who believe Jesus was a good man. They respect His memory and His example but they do not accept or receive Jesus as the Messiah. There are Some who reject Christ completely; discounting His existence, denying His influence, rejecting His deity. But there are the Others who say: this is the Christ. This is by comparison a smaller group. The Others!
The Others, who believe that Jesus is the Christ have entered that first level of faith. They now can enter in and receive Christ as Lord and savior. They have made the first step in faith, now they must diligently seek Him. Of those who believe in Christ, many never take that next step of faith to receive Christ as savior. But if you do receive Christ, you become one of the Few who receives eternal life.
