“How sweet are Thy words unto my taste! Yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!” Psalm 119:103
If you are a believer in Christ and you don’t make it a priority to read God’s word, you are really missing out. Not only that, but you are sinning! If God has gone to all the “trouble” to give and preserve His holy word to us, how can we not dig into it?
On the other hand, some of us read the Scriptures but not in the way David here read them. We may read them because it’s our duty. Truly, it is our duty and we should read even when we don’t feel like it. However, I want to encourage you to join with me today in praying that God would give you and me a fresh taste, an appetite, a hunger for His word. There is not a day that goes by that I don’t have hunger for food-and not just any food, but good food!
Likewise, may there never be a day in my life that I don’t have a taste for the pure, holy, spiritually healthy words of God! May we read, study, memorize, meditate and live out the sweet words of God.
