In Praise of Him
We cannot help but praise Him, our God who came in flesh.
He's Perfect and Almighty, our Lord, our Righteousness.
The Lord of Hosts is His name, the Great and Mighty God,
Who's mindful of poor sinners, redeeming with His blood.
The One who dwells eternal has love without an end.
Our God of Love came to us to bear our awful sin.
Our Savior and Deliv'rer, the Sinless One is He,
Who bore our sins on the cross, in love to set us free.
He is the Lord of Glory he is the King of Kings.
He sits on High on His throne, by grace secured all things.
For those He calls to Himself, his Mercy He makes known.
He is their Rock of Ages, his glory they now own.
"Worthy the Lamb that was slain." Will be the song we sing.
Multitudes from all nations will join our song to bring
Worship and praise to Jesus, Creator of all things.
The Lamb's righteousness will reign throughout eternity.

(Tune: ‘The Church’s One Foundation’ page 186)
If our hope lies in us, or in what we do, it is a delusion. If our hope lies in this church it is a lie. If our hope stands with one foot on the work of Christ and the other foot on our own merits, it will fail us. Hope in Christ is the only hope which can be acceptable to God. Our only hope of Heaven will be through Christ alone. Here our hope begins, and here our hope ends.

(Ephesians 2:8) "For by grace are ye saved through faith"
Salvation, from start to finish, is the work of God's free grace in Christ. Grace planned the way of salvation by the Substitutionary Sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ. It was Grace that chose those who would be saved in eternal election. Grace brought the Lord Jesus Christ down from Heaven to die in our place at Calvary. Grace calls sinners to Christ by its irresistible power. Grace gives us life. Grace preserves us in life. And that same grace of God will present us holy and without blame before the presence of His glory in heaven. All the blessings of Grace in Salvation come to all of God's people "Through faith." Faith is not our Saviour. Christ alone is the Saviour of His people. But faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is necessary unto salvation. Every one of God's elect looks to Christ in faith and receives salvation from Him. Faith is the channel through which salvation comes. Faith is "Not of ourselves: it is the gift of God." Grace is the gift of God, Salvation is the gift of God, and Faith is the gift of God. None of these things can be attributed to us. We believe according to the working of God's almighty power within us. Faith is not the work of the sinner. It is the work of God in the sinner.

“MY BELOVED IS MINE AND I AM HIS”
Every soul has a beloved—something or someone in which to glory, rejoice and enjoy. With some it is THE WORLD (its’ vanity, materialism, and honors). With others it is THE FLESH. They live to entertain the flesh, and to pamper the flesh. With others it is THE FAMILY. Close and distant relatives, family trees, family reunions make up their past, present and future. With others it is RELIGION and works of righteousness. Their religion is not a PERSON; it is a CAUSE to which they are devoted in hope of a suitable reward. And with some it is SELF, pure and simple; what can we do for me?
To a believer, IT IS CHRIST! He worships, loves, rejoices and glories in the Lord Jesus above all things. Christ is my Beloved and “my beloved is mine and I am His.” Christ (His fellowship, His love, and His approval) is preferred above persons, possessions, pleasures, or pursuits. Could ONE so illustrious and supreme deserve any less?
“Whom have I in heaven but Thee? And there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee!” (Psalm 73: 25).

Faith
. . . is not life giving, but proof of life. Faith is not a work for salvation, but a work of salvation. Faith is not what saves us, but is certain proof God has saved us. Faith is not a condition we meet, but the condition God’s Spirit puts in us to “make us meet” (Col. 1:12). Is all this important? Do we split theological hairs here? NO! NO! For the Glory of God is at stake! That other (false) gospel says faith is man’s work, man’s will. But no, faith is “not of yourselves, but the gift of God” (Eph. 2:8). Faith is “according to the working of His mighty power” (Eph. 1:19). Therefore, it is “to the praise of the glory of His grace” (Eph. 1:6) . . . and not rather “to the praise of our faith.” - Pastor Paul Mahan
