The LORD JESUS CHRIST did come to this earth made in the likeness of sinful flesh and on the account of sin. HE did bear the sin debt which HIS people incurred by their disobedience to the holy law of GOD. HE came to destroy all of the enemies of those people which were chosen in HIM. HE has unsheathed and whet HIS glittering sword and triumphed gloriously over all of HIS people’s enemies. Not one remains unbowed, yet we see not yet all things put under HIM since HE has made death HIS servant and uses that for HIS purpose until such time as HE is pleased with the brightness of HIS coming to cast it forever away in the pit of destruction. “Even so come LORD JESUS.”
All of the accusers of GOD’s people are made liars as their mouths are stopped by the display of HIS absolute righteousness which HE has caused HIS people to stand in. They cannot be accused for “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” (Rom 8:1) “Happy art thou, O Israel: who is like unto thee, O people saved by the LORD, the shield of thy help, and who is the sword of thy excellency! and thine enemies shall be found liars unto thee; and thou shalt tread upon their high places.” (Deu 33:29)
1 In union with the Lamb, From condemnation free,
The saints from everlasting were; And shall for ever be.
2 In covenant from of old, The sons of God they were;
The feeblest lamb in Jesus’ fold Was blessed in Jesus there.
3 Its bonds shall never break, Though earth’s old columns bow;
The strong, the tempted, and the weak, Are one in Jesus now.
4 When storms or tempests rise, Or sins your peace assail,
Your hope in Jesus never dies; ’Tis cast within the vail.
5 Here let the weary rest, Who love the Saviour’s name;
Though with no sweet enjoyments blessed, This covenant stands the same.

CHRIST OR DOCTRINE?
I sometimes hear the statement: “You arrive at doctrine through Christ. You don’t arrive at Christ through doctrine.” I think, which is it, do we arrive at doctrine through Christ or do we arrive at Christ through doctrine? This seems to be an unending debate and people feel like they have to choose a side. So which is it? Well, the truth is both are really wrong! Why? Because you cannot separate the Lord Jesus Christ from His doctrine. Believers arrive at both at the same time! Coming, arriving at Christ is surely believing on Christ is it not? Paul writes, “In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation:” (Eph. 1:13) I realize there are some who have some knowledge of facts about Christ who do not know Him; but I know probably more who claim to know a “christ” who is nothing like the One we read of in the scriptures. They are very sincere and zealous but, as Paul said, their “zeal is not according to knowledge.” The true Christ said in Mark 8:38, “Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.” When the Holy Spirit gives spiritual life in regeneration what happens? “Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth.” (James 1:18) When God gives us the gift of faith, what do we believe concerning Christ? “...Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.” (Acts 15:7) Paul again in Romans 10:14, “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?” When a sinner believes on Christ, they believe a “report” or doctrine concerning Him. (Isa. 53:1) We preach “Christ crucified.” That is the Person “Christ” inseparably joined to His doctrine “crucified.” Furthermore, John says, “Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrineofChrist, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrineofChrist, he hath both the Father and the Son.” (2 John 1:9) We ought never to make enemies of friends and the Person of Christ is never the enemy of the doctrine of Christ! “It is Christ that died.” Will there be some that simply have an intellectual knowledge of Christ and perish? Yes. But many more will perish believing on what Paul called “another jesus.” God help us to preach “sound doctrine” which is to “preach Christ.” Our instructions are: “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.” (2Ti 4:2) To do so is to preach Christ! God calls His people by this gospel and they believe the truth; they believe on Him who is the Truth!
