The Day God Preached From Heaven
And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Matthew 3:17 The message of God’s glorious Gospel is found in these amazing words that God spoke one day from His throne above. This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. God is well pleased with His beloved Son! This is the sinner’s only hope of redemption.
God is angry with the wicked ever day! (Psalm 7:11) Yet the Holy Father is WELL PLEASED with His beloved Son. There has never been a time that God was not well pleased with His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ! This is the message from God that gives life to the lost and helpless. God is well pleased with His precious Son. God will never be pleased with sinful men and women and their works of self-righteousness. But God is well pleased with Christ. This is why I must have Him! In Him is the only place that God can be well pleased with me. He was born in the likeness of His people by taking upon flesh and lived before God in perfect righteousness for His chosen and elect people. In Him as my Substitute, I am perfectly righteous. He died as a notorious sinner in His people’s place, though totally innocent of one single sin, for we are notorious sinners! He rose again taking the sting of death, and victory over the grave that we who are deserving of nothing but death might have eternal life. Our Lord now sits at the right hand of God in all power so that His people will one day be able to sit at His feet in glory, perfectly righteous and holy as He is. In His beloved Son, God is now well pleased with me. This is the only way that God can or will be pleased with any of Adam’s fallen race.
So let me ask you dear sinner, are you well pleased with the Lord Jesus Christ? If God gives you eyes to see that in Him is the ONLY place where God can be well pleased with you, you will be well pleased with Him. -- David Eddmenson
