Standing Room Only
Exodus 33:11-23
If there were given you, O man a place by God where you could stand,
And be at peace with perfect rest from all your fears that doth beset,
Would standing there appeal to you with nothing more required to do
Or will the rock on which you stand be nothing more than sinking sand?
The Son of God stood long ago and set his face like flint for no
One living or the dead could stay the course that lay ahead.
For him a cross stood in his path; He bore the judgment of God’s wrath
Against a people dead in sin and brought his righteousness to men.
In time I heard the gospel call, silenced to me since the fall
I’ll make my goodness pass by you, so you can see this thing I do
The One who stands your Surety has stood through all eternity.
His grace and mercy, though unknown has been your portion all along.
Cleft in the Rock where I now stand covered by God’s righteous hand,
Who makes his glory to pass by; I see his back side with faith’s eye.
But face to face will have to wait till I pass through life’s narrow strait
Where faith will end in sight for me and there my Savior’s face I’ll see.

AM I GROWING IN GRACE?
He is a growing Christian to whom Christ is more and more precious. As our estimate of Christ rises, our estimate of ourselves necessarily becomes lower. To believers, Christ is everything. He is all their salvation. If we are guilty, He has atoned. If we are vile, He is worthy. If we are nothing, He is all in all. To be in Christ is heaven begun! To be like Christ is heaven completed! He to whom Christ is precious, to whom the Word of God is sweeter than honey, to whom sin is odious, to whom secret devotion is a delight, who strives to honor his Master in his life, who regards the world as a broken idol, has passed from death unto life.

THE SALVATION OF GOD’S PEOPLE ACCOMPLISHED
"Thou wentest forth for the salvation of Thy people, even for salvation with Thine anointed; Thou woundedst the head out of the house of the wicked, by discovering the foundation unto the neck. Selah" (Habakkuk 3:13). Christ Jesus did not leave heaven’s glories and come forth into this world to make a down payment on the salvation of spiritually bankrupt sinners. He did not come to do His part in salvation, leaving some aspect of it to be accomplished by the helpless. He did not come to assist sinners in salvation or instruct them in the art of self-salvation. He did not come to enable men to save themselves. He did not come to put all men in a savable position. He came into this world to save His people from their sins by rendering to the law of God its just demands: a perfect life and the satisfaction of infinite justice in that He died for the sins of His chosen, but fallen people. He was raised again because He did in fact, "save His people from their sins" (Matthew 1:21). "Christ hath once suffered for sins, the Just for the unjust that He might bring us to God" (1 Peter 3:18). His was not an attempt to save mankind, but the accomplishment, redemption and salvation of those given to Him in the election of grace. The sins of His people were imputed to Him and His righteousness has been imputed to His people. He was punished for our guilt, the laws’ demands have been upheld, justice has been satisfied and Christ was raised from the grave and exalted to the highest heaven. All of His elect will be brought by the irresistible grace of His Spirit to believe Christ and enjoy the reward of His obedience, even an everlasting salvation. It is my delight to proclaim unto you that the work of redemption, righteousness, reconciliation and salvation has been accomplished by Christ. The sinner’s faith in the Savior is not an addition to His work; it is the result of that great work.
