Was Christ Capable of Sin?

"Knowing The Truth" with Pastor Kevin Boling is a live, call-in radio program providing Doctrinal Dialog, Cultural Commentary and Insightful Interviews with some of today's foremost Christian authors and leaders.

Note: You can hear the live streaming by going to www.ChristianTalk660.com and clicking on the Listen Live button.

Each of the three synoptic gospels record the event commonly known as “The Temptation of Christ”. Not surprisingly, all the commentators I have read agree that Christ did not succumb to the Satanic attack. However, there is disagreement among some theologians as to whether or not Christ COULD have sinned.

This subject is referred to as the doctrine of Impeccability. Impeccability deals with the subject of the capability of Christ to be tempted. The doctrine of Impeccability states, that not only was Christ Sinless but he was also incapable of sin. Impeccability teaches that Christ did not sin and that He could not sin.

Critics of this doctrine say, that if Christ was not capable of sin, then the temptation of Christ is not a legitimate temptation. But is that premise true? Does the inability to fall to the temptation make the temptation irrelevant?

On the program today, I will discuss this subject in the context of the opening verses of Mathew Chapter 4.

The “Knowing The Truth” Radio Program, originates in Greenvile, SC on a 50,000 watt station covering all of South Carolina, as well as parts of North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee.

Additionally, the program is available nationally and internationally by means of a daily live webcast via the Internet. The program airs live on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1:00pm - 2:00pm EST on Christian Talk 660AM and 92.9FM.

A Toll-Free Number (1.888.660.9535) is open during the program to take your questions or comments.
