2/6/12 Our family picture -- night before surgery. Steven, Jamie, Katie, Calvin, Justin, Martin. We are thankful for each and every one!
Martin is looking at his brothers and sister!
Martin is loved by his family
Tomorrow is the big day for Martin. It is currently 11pm the night before the big surgery tomorrow morning at 8:30am. Jamie and I are in the PCICU at the hospital with the special joy of being able to hold Martin for an hour -- something that they allow parents to do the night before big surgeries. We were also so happy to have been able to bring our children for a few minutes to see Martin one last time. Tonight was the first time we were able to be all together so we took our first family picture with Martin! (Before, the children could only enter one at a time in the NICU to see Martin individually). We couldn't be more blessed going into this surgery.
Martin's color still looks great. He is so docile and is only fussy when he's being "bothered" by the nurses. A real blessing as it would've been difficult to comfort him (not being able to hold him). He certainly seems to be a very sleepy baby as well. It's always a treat to see him with his eyes open. Although, he was looking around at all his siblings when they arrived!
So, tomorrow morning at 8:30 the surgery will begin. It will be an all-day affair involving 20 or so people. We will be at the hospital early in the morning at around 6am or so to see him one last time before his big day and the next time we'll see him will be late afternoon or early evening.
Before we wrap up tonight, we'll read Psalm 34 together and pray with him. This Psalm is special to us as it's what we read after first hearing of Martin's heart condition. As thankful as we are for skilled surgeons and modern medicine, we know that the ultimate outcome is 100% in the Lord's hands. If you remember, please say a prayer for a successful surgery and speedy recovery -- and that we would have grace to bear whatever He deems good for us.
"The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart" Psalm 34:18.

Thank you for sharing about precious Martin. There are MANY people in Ontario who are lifting him up in prayer constantly. Your faith and testimony is an encouragement to us. We are praying God's best for Martin and your family this day.
To Him who is able to do IMMEASURABLY more than all we ask or imagine...
We have friends who's baby has just been moved to the same hospital in Charleston for heart surgery, Baby Bobby. They are also believers, Erika and Bob Deegan. Thankful to know that there are others there that can comfort each other because of your bond in Christ, and your bond through your sweet boys. A friend just posted your blog on her Facebook page. I am praying for little Martin and all of the surgeons today. And your sweet family!! Lifting you up!
Steven & Jamie, Our hearts reach out to you and our cries to the Heavenly Father, who knows more than we do what is BEST. Hope to be able to share in some GOOD NEWS tonight! Wylie & Lou Fulton
