“Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: He is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous .” Psalm 112:4 Believers live in a world of darkness. The darkness of God-less society is thick. Sometimes it can be deflating to our spirits to see the pervasiveness and effects of this darkness. But, faithful God shines light upon us even in this darkness. The light of His gospel, the fellowship of His people, and His works of grace and providence encourage us along the way. It reminds us that darkness is not forever, but one day soon we will be basking in the light of God’s face.
There is darkness of pain, grief, or loneliness that we face. In these moments, may we look to God to shine some of His light upon us to sustain us in these dark seasons. David rejoiced that even in the valley of the shadow of death God’s presence with him was a sure thing (Psalm 23:4).
Darkness is real and strong. But something even stronger is God’s light. May His light shine upon you today.
