Webcast: Biblical Balance of Imperatives & Indicatives

"Knowing The Truth" with Pastor Kevin Boling is a live, call-in radio program providing Doctrinal Dialog, Cultural Commentary and Insightful Interviews with some of today's foremost Christian authors and leaders.

I recently read the following post from Monergism Books "How truly difficult to find a local church which has the right admixture of imperatives (what you should do) and indicatives (what God has done for you in Christ). Either for fear of antinomianism the pastor will preach law almost exclusively, or for fear of legalism the pastor will avoid commands and motivate sanctification with gospel only. In my experience, The latter tends to be a problem in some PCA churches, while the former in Reformed Baptist churches. What about you?"

I have recently noticed elements of this debate showing up in some of the posts by others that our follow on social media sites. Additionally, the subjects has recently popped up in some books I have reviewed. I understand that this was a topic of discussion between Kevin DeYoung and Tullian Tchividjian. And most recently, I discovered that this has been discussed on Reformation 21.

With all that in mind, I think it is time to have a discussion about this issues on the Knowing The Truth radio program.

To help me do that, I have invited Dr. William B. "Bill" Evans to be my guest on the program today. He has bloged about this issue on Reformation 21.

Dr. Evans currently serves as the Younts Prof. of Bible and Religion and chair of the Dept. of Bible, Religion, and Philosophy at Erskine College.

He is the author of Imputation and Impartation: Union with Christ in American Reformed Theology (Paternoster, 2008). His articles and book reviews have appeared in Church History, Presbyterion: Covenant Seminary Review, Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society, Reformation and Revival Journal, The Banner of Truth, Haddington House Journal, the Westminster Theological Journal, and the ARP Magazine. He also was an Assistant Editor of the New Geneva Study Bible/ Reformation Study Bible. In his spare time he writes the ARP Adult Quarterly, the adult Sunday School curriculum of the ARP Church

The “Knowing The Truth” Radio Program, originates in Greenvile, SC on a 50,000 watt station covering all of South Carolina, as well as parts of North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee.

Additionally, the program is available nationally and internationally by means of a daily live webcast via the Internet. The program airs live on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1:00pm - 2:00pm EST on Christian Talk 660AM and 92.9FM.

A Toll-Free Number (1.888.660.9535) is open during the program to take your questions or comments.
