Two missions have been laid upon my heart--one for our church, and another for myself:
First, with regard to the church and its place in our community:
"We preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake" (2 Corinthians 4:5).
Second, with regard to my own desire as a preacher and as a writer:
"The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth" (Ecclesiastes 12:10).
It is not enough to speak the truth about God. Since God is glorious, it is only right to clothe His truth in delightful garments of word and deed. Though falling short, as products of a yet-being-redeemed image-bearer, may these sermons and blogs be an acceptable offering to Him, to whom all glory belongs, as well as be a benefit to His church, through Jesus Christ our Lord! Amen.
