Believe it or not --- summer is coming --- (it just got hot) and this summer's theme will be One Church - One Body. The planned focus is on our personal and corporate growth in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18) as well as the encouragement of one another unto love and good deeds (Hebrews 10:24-25).
One of the exciting moments of the Thirst Conference was to have most of our congregation together for a single worship service on that April Sunday morning. It's very difficult to "feel" like one church when we are divided into two worship services. Many were able to visit with other members whom you normally seldom see because you go to one service and he/she/they to the other.
Well, the Session and pastoral staff would like to provide all of "us" the opportunity to get reacquainted as one body of believers. Since the students are gone in the summer and vacations, short trips, etc. take others away in June, July and August, our numbers drop off to some degree (some Sundays more so than others). So, in keeping with our summer theme, we will return this year to a long-standing Westminster tradition of one Sunday morning worship service. Here is the schedule we will follow beginning on June 27th and ending on August 1:=
9:00-10:15 Morning Worship Service (One Church - One Body)
10:15-10:45 Coffee, treats in the Fellowship Hall
10:30-10:45 Children's Sunday School Opening Exercises
10:45-11:30 Adult & Children's Sunday School
There will be some other opportunities for our entire congregation to "come together" this summer through these venues:
June 18th - VBS Cookout & Fun, Fun, Fun (at WPC)
July 17th - All Church Picnic (Troy & Lory Michael's Farm)
In addition, many of our small groups will be meeting for various fellowship opportunities. If you are not yet involved in one of these groups this would be a great time for you to check them out and we hope you will.
So, we look forward to this time of enhanced fellowship together. This summer would be a great time to invite new students and others to be our guest on a Sunday morning and/or at one of the above "outings." If you have questions, please contact one of our elders, pastors or the church office. May your summer plans be attended with safety and a blessed time of family togetherness as well as many joyful memories to cherish. Know that we will miss you and look forward to your return.
