MLK Day: Who denounced rap culture?

Another MLK Day has come and gone. I see no front-page stories in the news about black leaders denouncing the rap culture of violence, irresponsibility, drug use, underachievement, bestial lust, ruined lives, and despair. I thought for a moment that the first black President would use his bully pulpit to denounce what rap and sports star idolatry has done to the black community, but then I remembered that his election campaign was bankrolled in large part by the entertainment industry, who make their money off of rap culture. Where are the voices in the black community denouncing rap culture? America finally came to realize that the principles of freedom for all, upon which the nation was founded, were meant to apply to everyone regardless of skin color. Now where are the role models and leaders urging young blacks to make the most of this freedom by getting an education and making something of themselves, and developing strong characters? I think the rise of rap culture is one of the most tragic things that's happened in my lifetime.
