Pastor's Corner - Nov. 09

This has been a month of farewells. Family members from the Corbetts, Cullums, Ureys, and Rehmeyers have passed away. Most notably was Johnny Rehmeyer, long time member and faithful servant in the church who passed away Saturday, October 24th.

The key activity during this past month was our Annual Faith Promise Missions Conference October 21-25. Pastor Bill Hardecker does a great job of planning this conference every year. This year, Don and Karen Kilmer to S. Africa (Zulus), Gary and Barb Forney to the Arctic Region, and Clint and Rhonda Rardin to Mexico City challenged us nightly from God’s Word. Our Faith Promise topped $110,000 even in this struggling economy. We rejoice in the Lord’s provision.

Sunday night, October 25th, our Teens and Singles presented a powerpoint presentation of their trip to El Paso TX and Mexico this past August.

October 2nd, our Home Schooling group took a field trip to Gettysburg. The Teens enjoyed a miniature golf and ice cream night on the 9th. Our married couples braved the weather for a hayride and wiener roast on the 16th. On the 20th, the Ambassadors (age 55+) took their annual Fall leaf ride. The Fall is a time packed with activity.

Upcoming November 8th Missionaries to Mongolia, Jason and Becky Muller will be with us to report on the last term’s work. November 29th we have our annual Thanksgiving weekend 4-men preaching in the evening service. The Ambassadors will enjoy their Thanksgiving dinner together on one of the Tuesdays. Matt Parks will leave for a 12 day trip to Portugal on the 23rd.

Don’t forget these regular opportunities:
1) Reformers Unanimous for addictions every Friday from 7-9 pm in the Annex Gym.
2) The CIA Club (High School Bible Study) in Red Lion High School meets every other Tuesday at 11:30. If you are interested in your child attending, call our office at 927-9227 ext 2 or ask for Pastor Chris.

In a day when churches nationwide are in a state of flux, giving-in to new philosophy’s of purpose-driven ministry and changing doctrines, Mt. Zion Baptist Church stands and faces the wind to remain the way we have always been—“Church, the way it used to be.” We stress solid Bible preaching and teaching, emphasize individual and family living for Christ, focus on reaching out to our community and the world with the Gospel, and try to guard against the influx of worldliness into the church. If you are looking for this kind of church, do something about it. Serving Christ can be fresh and exciting again. Come and worship with us this Sunday.

Come and worship with us this Sunday. We are sure that you’ll find that the drive IS worth the difference.
