Job At Wal-Mart Requires Precognition!

Wal-Mart wants someone with the ability to see into the future to
serve as a "Senior Software Engineer - MTS" at their company. (I do
not know what "MTS" means, it must be some internal Wal-Mart
designation.) Reading job ads is fun, because such bizarre
requirements appear in them.

For this job, the candidate must be: "Capable of discerning technical
trends vs. those with staying power (i.e. worthy of adoption)"

Wow! I've worked in the computer field since my first job in 1993, and
I can say that I know of no one who has this ability. Most people are
so wrong it isn't even funny. Even the technology companies that drive
change in the industry get it wrong more than they get it
right. Anyone who could see into the future and know what technical
trends are fads and which are here to stay would be one of the most
amazing human beings alive today. In fact, anyone with this ability
would probably not want to work at Wal-Mart. (The job does not have a
salary, even a range. But I imagine it would not be much to compensate
someone who could predict the future.)

This job has been plastered on every resume site on the Internet. The
original Wal-Mart posting is:
