It's been a while since I have updated our site. Much has happened in these past 3 months. The biggest milestone that we have crossed is the one year mark. This year just happened so quickly. All of the difficulties of conceiving, carrying, and birthing, seem so far in the past. We are so blessed and so happy. I think the best thing we did was move back to Sacramento where we have our parents and close friends. Our weekends fill up so fast because we so enjoy spending time with everyone.
We hosted a party at our house to celebrate Katherine's birthday with some of our closest friends and family...even with trying to keep it small, we had a house full of 49 people. We did the traditional Korean Dol table, and Katherine picked the calligraphy brush first and the recorder (musical instrument) second which signifies that she will be inspired by the arts. My boss thinks that she selected those items because they resembled drum sticks. This is very plausible because she loves playing on my drum set. We had an indoor treasure hunt. I had clues hidden throughout the house which lead to the "treasure", Katherine. Katherine was so excited to have all of these familiar faces all in one place. By the time we got to opening gifts, Katherine was exhausted. She was sitting in my lap slumped over to the side, but once she realized that all eyes were on her, she perked up and started to give a little performance. She lives to entertain and be entertained.
I don't think that I can give an accurate account of what has happened in the past 3 months. It all is truly a blur (thank goodness for pictures...which I will upload once I finish this). We have yet to go to the doctor for Katherine's one year check-up. I will add the stats to the update once we have them. I think she is about 20 pounds. She recently had three more teeth pop up from the bottom, so that brings the tooth count to 9. She is effectively cruising the furniture. She avoids crawling, but she can be very speedy when she has something in her sights. She can take a few steps independently between Gene and me. She doesn't talk yet, but she has very good body language. The only word she says with any consistency is "Ah-bba", the Korean word for daddy...which figures, because Gene is her most favoritest person in the world!!! She loves to "sing" and dance. She loves WATER!! She loves sitting in it, playing in the sink, and drinking it until her belly hurts. She just can't seem to get enough of it. It's just fun watching her personality come out. She is at her best when she has an audience. She has a handful of friends that seem to be able to light her up.
Thank you for visiting our site and sharing in our joy. Enjoy the pictures and videos as we watch Katherine grow.
