Sears: Don't Blame The Recession (overcharged for saw)

In my quest to get a reciprocating saw (see my previous post on my Harbor Freight futility), I went to Sears because they opened early. Sears still has not restocked the screwdrivers they're out of, and they've been out of them for a month. (The black plastic handled ones with the colored swivel tops. Phillips are blue.) Why can't they get screwdrivers in stock?

Anyhow, I found the saw I wanted. When it rang up, they overcharged me $10 from the price listed on their sign. I got the guy to correct it, with no apology or anything. I had to take him over to the physical sign and show it to him to get their own price.

Just don't blame the "recession" for this. Sears is a total loss. They're tragic. Why are they still in business? Yet I am expecting their disappointing Christmas season to be blamed on "the recession" -- no, it's not, it's the fact that people hate your stores and don't want to shop there.

The only hope is for Sears to go bankrupt and someone good buy the Craftsman brand. Maybe Home Depot can buy it and stock Craftsman tools. I really like Craftsman. Sort of a family tradition, because my grandfather had many of their tools.

I would not have even gone to Sears -- the same saw is at K-Mart -- if they had not opened early. I just wanted to pick up the screwdrivers, which I was sure they'd have stocked up on for the holiday season, but they didn't.
