December 4, 2007 Right now we are traveling between Washington State and Oregon State along the Columbia River that separates the two states. It has stormed during our trip on Highway 84 East going to Seattle, Washington. We found out that I-5 Interstate is flooded and closed to all traffic. Personally, I am not at all upset since I get to see more mountains in Washington along the river front. And 2 rainbows!!! Besides, it won't be a proper first time experience of seeing Seattle without the rain.
Each morning I had prayed during my Morning Prayer time asking God to protect us in our travels against everything I could think of that could happen. Last night was extremely wild to say the least. Late last night I was driving the hills of California in the upper North part on I-5 interstate. Not knowing the highway and the curves made me a little nervous since it was dark, some fog in parts and some bad weather in spots.
I asked the Lord for help and then a Semi Truck passed me with a HUGE Red Cross in lights up the center of the back of his/her trailer. It was about 5-6 feet tall at least and you could not miss it. So I decided to follow the way of the cross and take all the turns at the same speed. This was a great comforter to me and driver stayed in front of me until the worse of the curves was over before exiting. The next hill going up, I was talking to 2 guys on the CB. We all hit a patch of ice out of no where and it was about 2 blocks long which scared us and the temp. was 44 degrees. I thanked the Lord when it was done for keeping us all safe.
Then the next hill one of the guys who was carrying fuel all of a sudden had a major problem getting up the hill and went below all normal slow speeds. We kept talking on the CB to each other. Then I hit the top of the hill and started to go down it. All of a sudden there was no traction at all and by the grace of God answering prayer we survived what looked to be a way home to Heaven (details will be with held). We called out to the trucks behind us and begged the fuel guy who was still trying to get to the top to pull off and not come down the slope. For he would of flipped for sure and possible kill himself and us. He thanked us and when he got to the top, he pulled off the highway. My trainer said it was the scariest time he has ever seen in his years of driving. God answered prayer and my trainer realized that we lived through it because one of God's children was being taken care of behind the wheel. Praise God!!!
Nothing is too trivial to take to God in prayer. I have prayed for years before driving away in my car/truck. And God has always answered my prayers concerning my transportation needs/desires.
The mountains on my left right now look to be covered in crush velvet! What a sight!!! And to think...if I had been left to myself to choose.....I would of missed all of these experiences and been struck at my previous job being sexually harassed and degraded spiritually from the owner. God's ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts. And I for one am glad that previous statement is true.
Working for God is much better than not. Trusting God for everything needed is such a lite yoke. God is a great Father!!!
Well back to seeing these miles and miles of Semi Trucks taking this detour on US 97 to Seattle. And to think Pilot Truck Stop is giving out free coffee!!! What a life!!! Obeying God and stepping out in faith is great!!!
Nothing too trivial for God!! PJ
