Since this sermon was preached the teachings of Harold Camping on Family Radio (Oakland,Ca.) have become even more extreme. Not only has he pronounced that God is finished with the "corporate church" in this age, along with Scriptural offices and ordinances, but he has now come up with a strange doctrine known as the "3rd covenant". Again, as well as having no real basis in Bible teaching, this is an entirely self-serving doctrine since it encourages the belief that Family Radio alone is being used of God in this age as a "latter rain" ministry. It has also recently emerged that, having examined the issue of eternal punishment afresh, Camping now believes that unrepentant sinners are annihilated and not eternally damned in Hell. This is a heresy openly proclaimed by some cults and false religions. Harold Camping is another dangerous maverick whose devoted followers often display characteristics akin to those who have been ensnared by cult-leaders, such as an unquestioning allegiance to their leader, personally, and a stedfast adherence to all that he teaches, however historically or Biblicly unorthodox. Camping's wild ramblings, coupled with his refusal to direct sinners to Christ, mean that he cannot be trusted by serious-minded Christians. His errors need to be exposed.

Of course, my friend, if you listen to my message on "The Entertainment Syndrome" you will know that I condemn that sort of thing. But my church does not condone it, nor do many Bible-believing churches. Do not judge all churches by what most "churches" may do. Many "churches" who bring the TV into church on Superbowl Sunday are only showing how unscriptural they are. But it does not prove that God has abandoned His true church. I do not judge all Christian radio by what Mr Camping does and says. Just because he teaches a falsehood does not mean all Christian Radio preaching is false, does it? And Camping's teaching on the church is unscriptural nonsense. Christ will never leave Himself without a faithful witness. The Lord's Supper, for instance, will be kept (says the Apostle) "till He come".
sunday is the LORDS day (Isaiah 58:13) bringing a tv in to a church to watch the football game on Sunday is pseudo Christianity, just more proof that GOD has abandoned the church and started the judgement (1 Peter 4:17)
