As we enter into a new year we face the same enemy with the same goal, our absolute destruction. The devil often times does not want to take us out right away because he desires us to suffer as much as possible. I found out that the more I have desired to grow closer in my walk with God, the deeper and more intimate that I have prayed out becoming with my Heavenly Father, the bullets have seemed to fly more often and much faster and from places that I would not expect.
The deeper and farther you desire to go with God you can expect to lose friends, family, the support of those that you thought you had. In this life there are many Christians that are only going to go so far in their walk with Christ. They are saved and on their way to Heaven and that is good enough. We have lost the will and passion to see lost souls saved from an eternity of a life of permanent torment.
AW Tozer speaks of living the "crucified" life as a different way of living, a difficult way of living that will eventually lead to a deeper christian experience than we ever thought possible. As we venture out into the unkown with Christ, we cannot be interested in making people feel good about themselves, it has to be the exact opposite because as Tozer said:
"there was nothing good in man or even in the Christian-the only good was Christ."
As we continue to grow here at Quail Valley FWB Church, I enter 3rd year of the Pastoral Ministry and each year gets harder than the next. Im not going to sit here and act like I have it all figured out but the longer I tarry here, the more the devil fights and I have a feeling his desire is for me to lay down my sword and quit. I ask myself that very question...the response I get from God is simply this..."And then what?" I have learned the 4 P's over the last several years that have helped me to keep pressing forward under impossible spiritual, physical, and financial circumstances:
1) PRAY- Ephesians 6:18- “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”
(Prayer holds it all together)
2) PURSUE - Mar 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
(Always continue pursuing your people)
3) PLOW - 1 Corinthians 15:58 - Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
(Keep working. Its not in vain!)
4) PERSEVERE - James 1:12 - Blessed [is] the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
