Rick Warren Uncertain if Homosexual Behavior is Sinful, Says ‘Gays’ Go to Heaven
Controversy is stirring over recent comments made by Rick Warren, author of the best-selling book The Purpose-Driven Life and megachurch leader of Saddleback Church in California, who stated that homosexual behavior “might be” sinful, and that he believes homosexuals go to Heaven.

During an interview this week with the Huffington Post, Warren was asked by Marc Lamont Hill if having romantic feelings for a member of the same sex is a sin. Leading up to the question, Warren was explaining that he does not hate homosexuals, and that people should disagree politely on the subject of homosexuality.

“I have many, many gay friends, and have worked around the world with them in gay organizations to try to stop AIDS,” he said. “We’re doing ‘World AIDS Day’ this weekend at Saddleback Church. My wife and I have given millions of dollars to help people with HIV/AIDS and have worked with gay organizations on ...

Living in Roger Williams' backyard, there must be many Bible churches.

Christopher

What sort of 'bible' church are you attending?

Any of these listed on SermonAudio?

http://www.sermonaudio.com/sermonssource.asp?keyword=Rhode+Island

You need to make certain you attend a sound preaching ministry where you can discuss (ask questions and seek answers) the Holy Scriptures where there is a berean spirit

Acts 17:10-11
King James Version (KJV)

11 ... in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

Christopher my dear friend, "For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man...(James 3:2). I myself am positionally perfect, that is, as I am seen be God in Christ (Ephesians 2:5-6). Practically however I leave a lot to be desired by God, that is, while I exist on this planet prior to being given a glorified body by God to replace my "vile body" (Philippians 3:21) I have many "faults" in God's eyes (James 5:16). A classic example of one of my "faults" is what I said to "Helps" recently which on my part was demonstration of the "no good thing" that "dwelleth" in me (Romans 7:18) The "no good thing" being another name for the corrupt sinful adamic nature inherited from Adam and that dwells in all born again Christians.

God sees every saved born again Christian in two different perspectives: positionally perfect in Christ and practically with "faults" prior to being given a glorified body. How did I get to understand the things I just mentioned?:

Through Christ revealing them to me by the Holy Spirit by means of studying Scripture. My understanding of things I count most worth knowing comes from God through my studying Scripture.

Perhaps you will consider what I just said in conjunction with my 8:10 PM in this thread:

Read my post from 11:29 AM again. I also think you should ponder the scriptures I used. And also ponder the ones Mike and Dopey gave. YES YOU ARE VERY WRONG.

Christopher do you understand what these collectively show?:

2 Timothy 3:16-17
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

2 Timothy 2:15
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Luke 24:45
Then opened he [Christ] their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

What God sees good in you is Jesus. Remember our good is not measured against the good in others, it's measured against God's standards. Ours is all "filthy rags" according to Scripture(Isa 64:6) And we're not called to be nice, but to be right. There are a lot of nice people who are not right with God, don't you think?

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
(1 John 4:18)

With faith, may perfect love fill your heart to cast out fear. Joy!

Thanks, Frank. Similar to your statements, I had come to the following simple conclusion: I figured that God must have looked deep into my heart and found something good...something that I'm not aware of as being there. I've always been a nice person, a consciencous person, generous, and have always went to bat for people being bullied, treated unfairly, etc, but the same can be said for many, many people. I'd like to know what it is in particular that has set me apart for God to give me a 2nd glance.
Considering what he's pulled me out of, I have to assume that He has some kind of a plan for Him. I really hope that's the case because I worry about going to Heaven with nothing to show for my life. Like if Jesus asks, "What have you done for me"?...ya know? I guess I'd get in by the skin of my teeth?
No Christopher, unless you phrased your statement incorrectly, your thoughts are exactly the opposite of what I said. Dopey came to the same conclusion.

Really Christopher? How then do you explain this?:

Jeremiah 17:9 KJV
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Jeremiah 17:9 tells me that I haven't always been a nice person.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 KJV
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

One last thing, Chris...don't wait until tomorrow. None of us expect to live anything other than long, healthy lives and then die of old age. Nobody who died yesterday, nobody who died just an hour ago somewhere in the world, expected to die. Every one of them thought that the next day would be the same as the last. For us, it is, but for them, they are now in one of two places.
My point is that you don't know what tonight or tomorrow will bring so you need to get your situation solved with God and get yourself right tonight. You could very well die tonight, just like any of us could. If you died tonight, would you be standing next to Jesus, or would you be crying out for that one last chance which will never come because it's too late?

... You just have to stop...period. same with the porn...yuck...Satan has you right where he wants you...lost, so let's start letting go of the old, wretched, sinful man, and let God start doing the work that you are crying out for Him to do. You are not addicted to heroin, you have a mental addiction that you can just start saying, "no!" to. Keep saying, "yes", don't expect any asistance from God. If you don't resist, no amount of prayer can help you.

Chris (guest), I understand that sex is an addiction, but it's not like drugs where the body reacts violently to the withdrawels, so for you, it's sheer mental will power. You have to stop now because in my experience, God helps those who put forth the effort. He won't usually wave His magic wand and make our problems be gone in a poof. Pray, pray pray, resist, resist, resist. Maybe even seek deliverance by a Pastor because even though people don't seem to speak of them much, demons are alive and well...opressing and possessing. From what I understand, there are differing levels of sin and different levels of Hell. Homosexuality is up there as being one of the most abomidable of sins according to God. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. All the more reason to go celebate starting today, and then deal with the urges and mindset through prayer, pleading, speaking with a Pastor, having others pray with/for you, etc. You just can't keep doing it, ask forgiveness afterwards, and ask God to help you because that's insincere...that's what I used to do (not homosexuality, but with other things). You just have to stop...period. same with the porn...yuck...Satan has you right where he wants you...lost, so let's start letting go of the old, wretched, sinful man, and let God start do

Yes Christopher, if we could figure out why we were chosen by God, then we would attribute it to something of intrinsic value within ourselves and that would naturally result in some type of boasting. Ephesians 2:8-9. For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, {it is} the gift of God; [9] not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. 2 Timothy 1:9 who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity,

I also like to think that an adopted child didn’t chose his/her parents and a sheep doesn’t choose their shepherd, but the other way around. All that the Father has given to Him shall come to Him and He won’t lose or cast out any of them. When we as sheep go astray, the good Shepherd finds us and brings us back.

As an aside, there is none good, no not one. We may see morality in the lives of others, but God sees things much differently. Proverbs 21:2. Every man's way is right in his own eyes,
But the LORD weighs the hearts.
