Poll: U.S. Catholics back same-sex marriage
Amid growing support for same-sex marriage nationwide, a new poll from Quinnipiac University shows that most Catholics in the U.S. also back same-sex marriage, despite the church's teachings against it.

According to the poll, which surveyed 497 adult Catholics from February 27 - March 4 with a margin of error of +/- 4.4 percent, 54 percent of Catholic voters support same-sex marriage, while 38 percent oppose it. The survey shows a dramatic shift on the subject in the last few years: In a July 2008 poll by Quinnipiac, only 36 percent of Catholic voters said they supported same-sex marriage, while 55 percent opposed it.

Among 1,944 registered voters surveyed in the same poll, 47 percent supported same-sex marriage and 43 percent opposed it. A December poll asking the same question showed a statistical tie on the issue, at 48 percent in support and 46 percent in opposition. ...

Sure I get it. Maybe it is you needs some help. You've only got to ask, Steve.

I'm right glad you've put up your flag as an enemy of the gospel. It kind of makes it easier to converse, knowing that you need the new birth, which birth only God can give you, and that, by his grace.

For some reason she thinks John Y is a Black Man, perhaps she is overzealous for him? Afterall John Y is a Christian that she felt was under attack. However I too think the response was too strong. If Chris is headed for perdition as she implies....then he has all of eternity to pay for his wickedness. Therefore there is no need to taint herself with those words.

The most positive thing Ive heard about his eternal future, is that Chris does have a Christian wife. Without knowing she was nearby, I would have serious doubts about him.

JUK,

All unregenerate sinners are slaves of sin and Satan. Do you disagree?

Now you want to make an unheard of doctrine that because a man's wife is a lost sinner, that he himself is a slave to sin and Satan? Steve, you never fail to amaze me.

That which has been festering in your heart for several weeks now.... is it of God?

Is God glorified by it?

Jesus laid down His life to provide reconciliation with the Father and you won't be reconciled with Chris?

Interesting moniker (hypocritical?) considering your let me use the word "enmity" against Christopher000.

I am a former and knowledgable (raised) NEVER TO BE AGAIN Roman Catholic, who God so graciously brought to saving faith in Jesus Christ in 1980, one of many who has posted comments to John Yurich from time to time, urging him to make his Salvation (calling and election) sure and to come out of the false religion of Roman Catholicism.

Do you likewise want to ignorantly and falsely accuse me of whatever sins you imagine I'm guilty of because I desire to see Roman Catholic people come to genuine saving faith in Christ and leave the (quote) Church that hasn't told them the Truth of Christ? Maybe even turn me over to the Inquisition?

The RCC sure has its problems, its scandals with sexual sins and many of its members even now wrongly backing the pervesion of same sex marriage being one of them.

But the RCC's biggest problem is really God Himself.
CCC 841 blasphemously equates the Lord Jesus Christ our Creator as being Allah the false god of the Muslims

for a start.

John always says that Roman Catholics
are our brothers and sisters in Christ because "they worship Jesus as their Lord and savior". This is wrong and everyone has told him why a thousand times but John is set in his beliefs even though we can prove the church wrong and false in every way using the Bible and Romes own doctrines, dogmas and rituals to convict them.
The fact that he plans to marry a full on Roman Catholic just stunned me because it tells me that everything I and others have taken the time to post, and it's a lot, has meant nothing. I feel like John is one of those people who doesn't care what the Bible has to say if it is going to interfere with his comfort level since he has mentioned how very shy he is. For people like that, change doesn't come easy. When it comes to our eternal security though, I would find a way to concur it through Christian councilling.
Anyone who is truly born again just cannot marry a Roman Catholic. Period. That's not a union that God will bless and it will cause oh so many problems.

Just in case there is any confusion, my post was in response to another from John Y within another thread a few days ago. I haven't had the time to respond until now.

John stated that someday he will be marrying a Roman Catholic girl. To do this, he said, he would need to, among other things, confess his sins to a priest. John said he knows this is forbidden by God, but he is going to do it anyway with the plan of just asking for forgiveness afterwards.

The below was my response to this.

John,
My wife is a beautiful, successful woman with a heart of gold, however, she is Roman Catholic. With that said, I wish I had never married a Roman Catholic because it causes many, many problems. Christ says not to be unequally yoked for a reason and I wish I could do it all over again.
You, however, probably won't even notice any issues until you begin to realize that the Roman Catholic church truly is anti-God, anti-Christ, and fully anti-Christian. You, however you try to rationalize it, are a Roman Catholic. You always say that you don't take part in the unscriptural parts of the Mass. That's impossible, John, because everything is so intertwined.
I hope you begin to understand, John, before it's too late, how very, very wrong you are and how you have fooled yourself into believing that the Bible, and everyone here who cares about you is wrong, and you are right. Your church has done a stellar job and they have their talons sunk deep within your spirit.

The following should have been the 2nd post...page 2 out of 3. The post was so long on my phone that I lost track.

...Would it be ok for me to premeditate a sin, renounce Christ, to save myself, and then
just ask forgiveness afterwards? I always come up with the same answer, which is "no".
You mentioned in a post that you are going to marry a Catholic girl, but to do so, you will need to jump through the Roman systems hoops. One of those hoops, you said, was confession to a priest. To get around this abomination, you said that you would do it but then just ask for forgiveness afterwards.
Your post is what prompted mine. Do you really think that you will be forgiven?

...The scenarios of our posts are vastly different, but the end game is the same. For me: will I renounce christ for self preservation?, and for you: will you renounce God's word for self gain? The end game is the same...is it okay to premeditate a sin, commit the sin, and then ask forgiveness immediately after as was the original plan?
This is the precise reason that most criminals and otherwise un savory charactors are Roman Catholics; they can sin all day long and then be forgiven the next day...or so they believe.
My question is this: will you be truly forgiven for the premeditated sin that you plan on committing in the future just because you plan on asking for forgiveness immediately after the offese against God.
Would I receive forgiveness for premeditating the renouncing of Christ, to save myself, if I just planned ahead of time to just ask for forgiveness afterwards?

John Y,
Whenever I hear of persecution, I often contemplate on the following scenario:
I am travelling somewhere abroad when I am captured by Muslims; not for being an American, but rather, a Christian.
I am sitting on a metal chair in the middle of a dimly lit, dank, windowless room. I am terrified, unable to stop my body from shaking. I am covered in dried blood from the many beatings and my face is swollen to the point of my being unrecognizable.
My captors, for the final time , make me an offer that will allow me to walk free. They ask, " Will you praise Allah and convert to Islam, or will you lose your head?"
I have been over this type of scenario a thousand times, John, and I always end up with the same answer.
I am fully aware of the extreme emotional state that I would be in. I am fully aware that I would be so broken down both physically and mentally, that I would be looking for any way out for self preservation. The problem is that I am only being offered one way out, I have no other options but to praise the Moon god, Allah, and convert to Islam.
To my point: along with imagining this scenario, I have wondered if I could just tell my captors what they want to hear so I could go free. Would it be ok for me to premeditate a sin, renounce Christ, to save myse
