Top psychiatrist: Meds behind school massacres

If lawmakers and authorities are truly concerned about stopping gun violence in schools, they need to take a close look at the prescription of psychotropic drugs for children and young people, says a leading psychiatrist.

In an exclusive in-person interview in New York City with WND, London-based Dr. David Healy criticized pharmaceutical companies that have made billions of dollars marketing Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors, known as SSRIs.

Psychotropic drugs “prescribed for school children cause violent behavior,” Healy stated.

The drugs are widely used in the U.S. as antidepressants by doctors working in the mental health field and increasingly by primary care doctors, he noted. ...

#1. No, because you couch your points in deceptive exaggeration.

#1a. Automatic weapons are illegal.

#2. I'm glad for your sensibilities that you live in the non-American civilized rest of the world.

#3. See #1

1) I guess I wasn't too clear, John. I was asking where the biblical precedent for the idea of "full-time Christian workers" was.
2) Indeed, pleasant memories. Much like the hiking done here in peacful and pleasant Acadia in Maine. Though we're barbarians by English standards(since 1776) I still left my bazooka, found on every street corner, in the car. The issue here is whether GB is any more civilized, considering her history, not whether she is pleasant, which she is.
3)'Abrits' post was still rubbish John. You should risk life and limb to visit here. You'd be welcome in my home.
1. Ah, I see. Well Mike, maybe the following text will suffice. But I was thinking of the followers in the Garden, mainly apostles.

Ephesians 4:11-12 KJV
11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.

2. I'm sure there must be some very nice and peaceful places in America, like Cabot Cove for eg.

3. Abrits come and go, but we remain. That is very kind of you Mike, but I don't think I could survive the journey. They could always chuck me out over the Atlantic.

3) 'Abrits' comment you are agreeing with here is pure rubbish. Perhaps the 9th commandment doesn't apply to the more civilized? (Some brits seem oft, without basis, to think themselves more civilized that anyone else, certain that the fallen nature is less fallen among them.) Pride does that sort of thing.
Thank God that we are not as prideful as the brits!

1. No bro, a precedent for only fulltime workers being allowed to bear arms. It's your proof text after all, not mine.
2. Now Mike, you well remember your time in Norfolk, England, and how pleasant and peaceful it was. Well that's how it is in this country - pleasant and peaceful; not having to check every night that the colt is loaded and ready for action at the slightest creak.
3. Of course, a more civilised country is in greater danger of falling foul of pride, but that is not an excuse to become uncivilised so that it will not happen. A man can be civil and humble at the same time. Do I claim that?

1. This was not the general public but full-time Christian workers who had the swords. Precedent, anyone?
2. Correct, but then we're a more civilised society.

Aha! I am out of date with my statism.

It is now just below 2,000 according to the Guardian

But it is still a lot more than deaths by shooting.

What are sedentary employments?

Incorrect, except it be by force of arms. And I don't think those lunatics are a match for our excellent armed forces.

Fully agree with all that you say.

Until seatbelts, the annual death toll on our roads was 6,000 men, women and children per year. It is STILL 3,000. Ban the CAR! The biggest killer we can still deal with.

Surveyor -- despite a difference of opinion, the love of Christ transcends all of this. those of many tribes and nations worship Christ and will so in the future heavenly kingdom. until that time, believers will hash out questions, be it in a public arena or quietly as did the home churches of China. Either way, the word of Christ will endure.

No one said that.

But note that this is the world wide web. People in the UK have as much a right to comment as you do. Mostly their comments are worthy of thoughtful reflection and lacking your wild unreferenced statements.

we've watched democide take the lives of 250 million lives plus in the last hundred years. in the last few hundred, the colonies shake off the shackles of imperialism. but over time, failed to recognize the inherent worth of all citizens (not just white) and overtime return to what she came out of.

this is not progress.

people in the uk have no position to be telling believers in the us that they are not endowed by their Creator to protect their family.

the arsenals and other words are not accurate descriptions of the good citizen who watches out for his family and neighbor.

the uk is being overrun with crime compared to rest of Europe and will soon be ruled by Islam..... which is a result of the people no longer ruling their own country....

I do not share in these values, nor of drugging up children and expecting their minds to work properly.

kudos to this psychiatrist who had the courage to show these trends.

a million die in Iq and no one bats an eyelash, and a man wants to provide for his family gets demonized by those calling themselves Christians. Big churches have no problems hiring out police to protect grounds, those priveleged with money and stature to hire body guards, megabusinesses that keep cameras on everyone..... illegalizing individuals
