UK’s first atheist ‘church’ set to launch
The first “atheist church” in the country is set to open in London, but critics say it’s a contradiction in terms.

Stand-up comedians Sanderson Jones and Pippa Evans, who are behind the ‘church’, say they like many aspects of religion but don’t believe in God.

But last year prominent atheist Richard Dawkins hit out at separate plans to build a £1 million “temple for atheists” in London, as a waste of money and a contradiction in terms.

We're more powerful than we used to be, but not as powerful as we need to be.

Fantasyland. You're not going to find atheists "taking up arms" against a being whose existence they don't think has been demonstrated. That'd be ridiculous.

Sometimes when I'm pulling up to a car, I'll notice a fish bumpersticker in the distance. When I get closer, more often than not lately, I find that the outline of the fish contains the word "Darwin" I'm always very disappointed.
I think it's interesting how the most intelligent of people seem to be the athiests; believing that they are much too intelligent to believe in a God. There
is so much evidence that points to God and creation but they just choose not to believe any of it and treat it all, along with God, like it's all a joke. Mankind thinks they are so powerful, but we are nothing but weak little specks that God can crush with a word, yet we think we can rise up and rage against Him, take up arms against Him, etc. Satan tried that.
The athiests refuse to believe in a creator, yet they will believe that at first there was nothing...and then it exploded into everything that is seen and unseen today.
Irreducible complexity...

Jim Lincoln, There are Unitarian atheists? I always thought that all Unitarians believed that there is a Supreme Intelligence.

This proves that even avowed atheists like the form of Christianity, if not the content. Playing the pastor game & lording over others (who love it) must have a powerful appeal.

Like-minded? Invitation only? I guess you won't be accused of open-mindedness, will you? But then, athiests are so...small.

now Jim, really? the answer to false theology is to sick the IRS on them? (who is the banker judge that determines which theology is "good" or shall we all now be charged taxes for fellowship and free speech?) or perhaps we just give money to a foreign banker anytime we speak? possibly charge a higher tax on SA for non-theologically sound comments?

In this country they could get a tax exemption, while holding on to the same theological positions, but call themselves Unitarians. See Unitarian Universalism - Part 2.
