Wash. State Suing Christian Florist After She Refuses to Provide Flowers for Gay Wedding

Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson has filed a consumer protection lawsuit against a business that refused to provide services for a same-sex wedding. Arlene’s Flowers & Gifts, located in Richland, is the focus of the legal drama, after its owner cited Christian views and apologized for an apparent inability to offer up flowers for the nuptials.

SeattlePI.com reports that the choice to file a lawsuit came after Ferguson attempted to get owner Barronelle Stutzman to reconsider the refusal to provide wedding flowers to a customer named Robert Ingersoll. The incident began on March 1, when the client first learned of Stutzman’s views. ...

Or do you remember him telling you that you were to wear a suit of armour with sandals on, you were to be humble and you were to love your enemies.
Now I find that this is a difficult conflict for a Christian- but these are real life issues. In the old testament god rained down fire and brimstone on sodom for its sexual sin. In the old testament god commanded Israel to murder whole communities when they were taking over the land. Is the god of the old testament the same god- because we see a different approach to sexual sin by our blessed Jesus who actually protected a woman caught in sexual sin when the Israelites were about to stone her.
In Jeremiah god prophesied that he would give us a new heart- a heart of flesh not of stone. Other than his dealings with Pharisees his game plan always appears ( to me) to be engage a sinner first.

That being said, what would be your view when they want to be married before a Christian preacher?

What about the 90% of Christian couples who fornicate, shack-up and eventually bother to order flowers for their 'white' wedding? Why were these generations of hypocrites never confronted by this puritanical florist?
Because heterosexual marriage is biblical.

Lisa Wrote: I am a therapist and I struggle to treat witches whom I encounter...

Hi Lisa, I undetstand your point, but all that aside, this caught my attention.
I am assuming that you don't advertise yourself as a Christian therapist, otherwise, counseling witches wouldn't pose any sort of struggle. Instead, it would be a great thing for you to be leading these people to higher ground since they would be your patients based upon the fact that you were a Christian therapist, meaning that they had been recently saved, I guess, but still struggling.
So, since you don't advertise your services as Christian based, I'm wondering what makes councilling witches a struggle. Do you tell them that their lifestyle is not ok? Do you infer its ok by not saying anything, or do you struggle because you really can't say anything without bringing Christ, etc, into the conversation? Do you struggle because the conversation needs to remain secular, which causes a battle within you?
Not looking to argue, just curious.
I'm not sure how I feel about sticks and stones on some issues, we're all sinners, but...

Robert Ingersoll was a public speaker who liked to blaspheme God in the late 1800's. This was just another set-up via liberal activists.

I am not convinced that this sort of thing is the right way forward- what about stopping gay people from buying food ( they have no right to be on gods earth ????). I do not condone homosexuality, I do not condone drug taking . We are under grace guys and our remit from Jesus is to reach out to people in love. I feel there is an over emphasis on pointing fingers at certain groups that don't fit our mould ( yes I know about sodom and Gomorrah ) . Would it not have been a less confrontational issue to tell the folk concerned that you do not condone homosexual " marriages" or whatever the trendy leftys want to call civil unions these days ( we will never accept them). But they are free to buy flowers. Perhaps then she would have had a chance at reaching these hell bound sinners with the good news.

The issue has been made confrontational by the homosexuals, not the Christians. It isn't a matter of opposing them because they don't fit our mold, any more than opposing child abusers would be for that reason.

That woman florist should have provided wilted flowers to that homosexual. That way the homosexual would not have grounds to sue the florist.

I am a therapist and I struggle to treat witches whom I encounter- and you know what, I prayed and prayed about this struggle. Eventually god gave me a vivid memory of my own wicked past. He then challenged me with the thought that I was no better without his grace.

He who is without sin- cast ye the first stone.
How are we to reach the lost with this rejecting attitude and lack of love for sinners- court cases.

I am pleased to see various Christian legal organizations are going to come to the aid of this florist.

Wouldn't this be a great time for the bishops of the Romish Church in this state, come in and support this florist also? This would be a great way to counter the stories of, Did Pope Francis Secretly Endorse Civil Unions for Gays? Now they would want to counter that "falsehood" wouldn't they?

Why? Why is it too difficult for this homo/sodomite man to simply choose to shop elsewhere! Instead he would force one to commit a crime of their conscience all while no one is forcing him to marry a female or to "go straight".
Do not be fooled fellow brothers and sisters in Christ! The homo-soddomite community DOES NOT want so called " equal rights and protection under the law", no,they desire special treatment above and beyond that of heterosexual couples and unfortunately too many do not see through to this travesty.
